If you want to 100% Super Mario Odyssey, then you are going to need a lot of coins, and we mean A LOT!
You will have to get all of the costumes in the store, complete the Balloon World game, and when you when you die, you lose coins, so you will want a nice bank account as you go along.
It can be daunting to see that just one costume costs 9999 coins, but don't give up. There are many easy ways to get coins in Mario Odyssey, and while it may take some time, you can get them without much work.
1. Bowser's Kingdom (Fastest and Easiest)
First, warp to the Beneath The Keep flag.
Next, make your way to the side of the building.
Once there, you will grab the nut on the right side of the screen and plant it in this pot. A beanstalk will grow. Hop on top and ride it to the bonus world.
When you are in this bonus section, do not move the joystick. The only buttons you will press is the button to throw your hat to hit the speed flowers and the button to jump. This is very important.
If you get completely through the course, grab all coins, and jump through all hoops, you will get 180 coins per ride.
You can do this over and over.
2. Ruined Kingdom
Once you have beaten the main story of the game, you can return to the Ruined Kingdom and release more moons by hitting the glowing rock. Once you do, enter the new pipe that is right next to the landing spot of the Odyssey.
In this bonus area, head straight and make your way to the switch on the far side. Avoid the evil mummies on your way.
Once you get there, flip the switch and take control of the Charging Chuck.
Now, to get your coins, all you have to do is kick some mummy butt!
As you run around the arena, keep running over the mummies, and they will give you coins.
You can continue to do this for a while, and you will keep getting coins. It can get boring, but even by spending 30 seconds killing mummies, you can gather at least 75 coins.
You can continue to exit and re-enter this level to take advantage of this quick cash grab.
3. Play Balloon World (All Kingdoms)
Once you complete the main story (when you will need all those coins), you will see Luigi waiting for you in all kingdoms with the option to play the Balloon Game.
Play it as often as you get the option, especially the hiding portion.
When you hide the balloons, it doesn't cost you any coins. As other players attempt to find your balloon, you earn the coins, usually at least 11-22 coins per person.
The beauty of this is that you can continue to run around, collecting additional coins while the other players do the work for you.
Now you will want to hide the balloon in a good place so it is not popped right away and more people have a chance to pay you to find it.
HINT: Use all 30 seconds you are given and go as far from the starting point as you can, and try to hide the balloon behind a wall or under water.
The more times you play, the higher your rank will get, and you will begin to earn even more coins just by hiding balloons.
EXTRA HINT: When you play Find It, do so in the Moon Kingdom. There are fewer places to look here and most balloons are in plain sight. Select balloons that are hidden the closest and they will usually be hidden in the same spots.
