Step 1: Start a Creative Channel
Before you can make money on YouTube, you need to start a Channel. To make one, you will need a Gmail account.
Channel Name
Once you have both, you will need to make a channel name, which you can modify later on if you choose. The channel name won't make or break you, but if you can come up with something creative that explains what you do in 1 - 3 words, then try it out.
Keep in mind that once your channel gets going and you begin getting subscribers, your viewers will be used to your name, so changing it is not typically a good idea. Take a lot of time to come up with the best name. At worst, use your own name.
Content Strategy
Along with coming up with a name, you will need to devise a content strategy of what you want your channel to be and the kinds of videos you will make. Of course, you will want to come up with entertaining videos so people will tune in.
Even better than having them tune in is having people subscribe to your channel, so they can be notified of new content. On top of that, the more subscribers you have, the better chance you have of becoming a partner on YouTube (see step 2).

2. Become a YouTube Partner
You will want to keep churning out videos and building your audience because, in order to have true success on the platform, you will want to become a YouTube Partner.
When you are a YouTube Partner, you get many benefits, including:
The ability to monetize your videos, so every view helps you make money.
You can also upload your videos to other places outside of YouTube so you can make even more money.
Plus, you get your videos out to an international audience.
You want to become a partner to make money on YouTube, and to do so, you will need a minimum of 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours over a one year period.
3. Advertise
The more viewers and subscribers you have, the better chances of making money on YouTube. There are many methods that you can try to get both.
AdSense
You can find more subscribers and make more cash as you go by signing up for an AdSense account.

Channel Members
You should also encourage your subscribers to become members of your channel. They will have to pay to do this. Your channel members will get special perks, including the ability to see your videos first, obtain special badges, and other exclusives.
Once you have them as members, encourage them to become Premium YouTube subscribers. When they do, they will no longer have their videos interrupted by commercials.
For you, this means that you get a cut of their premium subscription fee.
Encourage Super Chats
In addition to uploading videos, you can also stream videos live. When you do, the viewers will have a chance to comment as they watch.
While they do, you can enable Super Chats, which allows the viewer to pay you to make their comment stand out as it is highlighted and stays up longer than the other comments.
